In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-'Aleem
When to Read
This powerful dua is recommended to be recited in the evening, after sunset, as we transition into the night. It's part of our evening remembrance (adhkar) that seeks Allah's protection as the world grows dark and potential unseen dangers may arise. Reciting it consistently offers a shield against harm throughout the night.
How to Read
Recite this dua once with sincerity and full conviction in Allah's power. Visualize His protection encompassing you as you utter the words. It's best recited after the Maghrib prayer or as darkness fully descends, ideally when you are in a state of Wudu (ablution), though this is not a strict condition for this specific supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua specifically to protect one from all kinds of harm, whether physical, spiritual, or environmental, during the night. By invoking Allah's name and acknowledging His supreme hearing and knowledge, we place our trust in Him, and He is sufficient for us. This act of remembrance strengthens our reliance on Allah and brings peace of mind knowing we are under His watchful care.
