The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ promised immense protection to those who recite this dua. Source & Authentication
Narrated by Aban ibn Uthman: 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'He who says: 'Bismillahi-lladhi la yadhurru ma'a-smihi shay'un fi-l-ardi wa la fi-s-sama'i wa huwa-s-Sami'u-l-'Alim' (In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing) three times, will not be afflicted by any calamity until the morning, and he who says it three times in the morning will not be afflicted by calamity until the evening.' Aban said: 'So Aban ibn 'Uthman was afflicted with paralysis, and he started to look at the person who had narrated the hadith to him, and Aban said: 'What is wrong with you? By Allah, I did not lie to Uthman, nor did Uthman lie to the Prophet ﷺ. But the calamity was decided, and the grace of Allah was to make it (recitation) a cause for my not being pleased with what pleased Allah.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5087). While the hadith mentions a severe trial for one narrator, the core promise of Allah's protection through this dua remains a source of immense comfort and strength for us.
