Source & Authentication
A man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'O Messenger of Allah, what protection can I seek?' He said: 'Seek refuge in Allah by the words of your (own) invocation and the invocation of the righteous among your Ummah before you.' The man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what are the words of the invocation?' He said: 'Say: I seek refuge in Allah, in His hearing, in His sight, in His authority, from (the evil of) what I find and what I fear.' Then he narrated to me, and I (the narrator) think he mentioned: 'Seek refuge in Allah by the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.' (He said this) three times, and whoever then stayed that night would not be stung (by anything). And if he died that night, he would die (in a state of guidance) in a way that would not sting him.
