Dua for Protection from Poverty When Entering Home

Entering Home
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 3764

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

In Allah's name we enter and in Allah's name we leave, and in our Lord we place our trust.

Bismillahi walajna wa bismillahi kharajna wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna

When to Read

This beautiful supplication should be recited upon entering your home. It's a way to imbue your dwelling with blessings and seek Allah's protection from all ills, including poverty, right from the threshold.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction as you or your family members step into your home. It's a practice that connects the simple act of entering your house with a profound reliance on Allah. You can say it aloud or softly, depending on the situation. The key is the intention and the remembrance of Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua upon entering home is more than just a habit; it's an invocation for divine protection and provision. When we begin our entry with Allah's name and declare our reliance on Him, we are essentially inviting His barakah (blessings) into our home. This practice is understood to ward off Shaytan (Satan) and any negative influences, thereby fostering an environment where sustenance flows and poverty is kept at bay. It transforms a mundane action into a spiritual act, reminding us that Allah is our ultimate provider and protector in every aspect of our lives, including our sustenance and our homes.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When a man says: Bismillahi walajna wa bismillahi kharajna wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna (In Allah's name we enter and in Allah's name we leave, and in our Lord we place our trust), then Shaytan says: 'I will not go in and I will not go out from you, nor will I be able to harm you.' This hadith is narrated by Al-Bazzar and At-Tabarani in Al-Awsat. It is also narrated in Sunan Abi Dawud and authenticated as Hasan by Al-Albani.
