بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا
In Allah's name we enter, and in Allah's name we leave, and in our Lord we place our trust.
Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna
When to Read
This beautiful dua is recited when entering your home. It's a powerful way to begin your time within your own four walls, consciously seeking Allah's presence and blessings to usher in peace and ward off any negativity, including misunderstandings or disputes with family members.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a present heart as you cross the threshold of your home. It's recommended to say 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) before it, as this is a general Sunnah for all actions. Focus on the meaning of entrusting your home and family to Allah's care.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua not only blesses your home but also invokes Allah's protection. The mention of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) is key. When we place our trust in Him, He takes care of our affairs. This act of remembrance can create an atmosphere of serenity, making it less likely for disputes to arise and fostering a peaceful family environment. It also means that when we leave the house, we are under Allah's protection, and when we return, we re-enter with His blessings. This dual protection extends throughout our presence within the home.

Narrated by Jabir bin 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'When a man enters his house and mentions Allah at the time of entering and at the time of eating, Satan says: "You have no place to pass the night and no food." When he enters and does not mention Allah at the time of entering, Satan says: "You have found a place to pass the night." And when he does not mention Allah at the time of eating, Satan says: "You have found a place to pass the night and food."' (The narrator then mentioned the dua: 'Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna. (In Allah's name we enter, and in Allah's name we leave, and in our Lord we place our trust.)' This version is found in Sunan Abi Dawud.)
