It was narrated from Abu Malik Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When a man enters his house and remembers Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and praises Allah the Mighty and Majestic when he eats, then Satan says: 'You have no place to spend the night and no food.' When he enters his house and does not remember Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and does not praise Allah the Mighty and Majestic when he eats, Satan says: 'You have found a place to spend the night and food.' Then he said: 'Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: 'As for man, when his Lord tries him and honors him and grants him good, he says: 'My Lord has honored me.' (89:15) As for when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says: 'My Lord has degraded me.' (89:16)'. Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawud, and An-Nasa'i, and its wording is that of Abu Dawud. It is also narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'When a man enters his house, let him say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khayr al-mawlij wa khayr al-makhraj, bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Allahi Rabbina tawakkalna.' Then let him greet his family with the Salam.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 5096, Narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah, classified as Hasan by Al-Albani).
