Entering Home
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 3764

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى اللهِ رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and in Allah, our Lord, we trust.

Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'alallahi Rabbina tawakkalna.

When to Read

This beautiful dua is recited upon entering your home. It marks the transition from the outside world into your sanctuary, invoking Allah's name and seeking His blessing and protection. Imagine stepping through your doorway, keys in hand, and taking a moment to connect with your Creator before you fully settle in.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity and presence. As you say 'Bismillahi walajna' (In the name of Allah we enter), visualize yourself and your family entering with Allah's protection. With 'wa bismillahi kharajna' (and in the name of Allah we leave), acknowledge that even your departures are under His watch. Finally, 'wa 'alallahi Rabbina tawakkalna' (and in Allah, our Lord, we trust) is a declaration of your reliance on Him for all matters within and outside your home.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When a person enters his house, he should say: Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'alallahi Rabbina tawakkalna.' (In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and in Allah, our Lord, we trust). Another narration adds: 'Then let him greet his family with Salam.'
