When to Read

How to Read
Recite this supplication with sincerity as you cross the doorway into your home. Ideally, it should be said before or as you step inside. Remember that the words are powerful, but the intention and presence of Allah in your heart are paramount.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses several profound meanings. By starting with 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah), we acknowledge His presence and seek His barakah (blessing) in our home. The mention of entering and leaving with His name ensures His protection throughout our time inside and also when we depart. Placing our trust ('tawakkalna') in Allah reminds us that our security and peace are ultimately from Him. Reciting this connects our worldly actions to our faith, turning a simple act into an act of worship.
Source & Authentication
Narrated by Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "When any one of you enters his house, he should say: 'Bismillah walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'alallahi Rabbana tawakkalna' (In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and in Allah, our Lord, we place our trust)." Then he should greet the children of his household if they are present, and if he does not do so, Satan may say, 'I have spent the night here and have not been greeted.'
