Dua for Entering Home: Seeking Allah's Blessings and Protection

Entering Home
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1805

O Allah, I ask of You the best of the entrance and the best of the exit. In Allah's name we enter, and in Allah's name we leave, and on Allah, our Lord, we depend.

Allahumma inni as'aluka khayral mawlaji wa khayral makhraji, bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'alallahi Rabbina tawakkalna.

This beautiful dua is recited upon entering your home. It's a profound way to begin your time within your dwelling, acknowledging Allah's presence and seeking His protection and blessings from the moment you step inside.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with full awareness of its meaning. The phrase 'Bismillah' (In Allah's name) should ideally be said before the rest of the dua as you physically enter. This practice sets a tone of remembrance and reliance on Allah for peace and security within your home.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses seeking the best outcome for both entering and exiting your home. By invoking Allah's name and placing your reliance upon Him, you are essentially inviting His protection from any harm, disputes, or negative influences that might affect your household. It transforms your home into a sanctuary under Allah's watchful care, fostering an atmosphere of tranquility and peace, thus mitigating the potential for domestic disputes.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When a man says when he enters his home and remembers Allah the Exalted at the time of his entering and at the time of his eating, Satan says: 'You have no place to spend the night and no food.' When he enters and does not remember Allah the Exalted at the time of his entering, Satan says: 'You have found a place to spend the night,' and when he does not remember Him at the time of eating, Satan says: 'You have found a place to spend the night and food.'" (Sahih Muslim 1805). While this specific hadith focuses on remembering Allah in general, the comprehensive dua for entering the home encapsulates this remembrance and further specifies the seeking of goodness and reliance.
