Narrated by Jabir bin 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) say: "When a man enters his house and mentions Allah at the time of entering and at the time of eating, Satan says: 'You have no place to spend the night and no food.' When he enters without mentioning Allah at the time of entering, Satan says: 'You have found a place to spend the night.' And when he does not mention Allah at the time of eating, Satan says: 'You have found (both) a place to spend the night and food.'" (Sunan Abi Dawud 3764, Sahih according to Al-Albani). While this hadith specifically mentions entering and eating, the principle of invoking Allah's name at the beginning of any significant action, like entering one's home, is established.
