Dua for Entering Home: Invoking Barakah and Peace

Entering Home
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5096

O Allah, I ask You for the good of entering and the good of exiting. In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we exit, and in Allah our Lord we place our trust.

Allahumma inni as'aluka khayral mawliji wa khayral makhraji, bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'alallahi Rabbana tawakkalna.

When to Read

This dua is recited when entering your home. It's a beautiful way to start your time at home with remembrance of Allah, seeking His blessings and protection. Reciting it acknowledges that all entering and exiting is by His permission and grace, and that our reliance is upon Him.

How to Read

Recite this dua as you are about to enter your home, or as you step inside. It is ideally recited with sincerity and contemplation of its meaning, remembering that Allah's presence and protection are sought with every word.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua invites *barakah* (blessings) into the home and protection from anything undesirable. By starting with 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah), you are warding off Shaytan and seeking Allah's shelter. The mention of 'tawakkul' (reliance on Allah) reinforces our dependence on the Almighty for all matters, including the peace and harmony within our homes. This practice is a way of fulfilling the Sunnah and seeking Allah's pleasure, which in turn brings tranquility to our lives and our families.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ, when he would come to his family, would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khayral mawliji wa khayral makhraji, bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'alallahi Rabbana tawakkalna.' (O Allah, I ask You for the good of entering and the good of exiting. In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we exit, and in Allah our Lord we place our trust.)
