بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا.

In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we depend.

Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna.

Virtues & Benefits

Reciting this dua invites Allah's blessings into your home, turning it into a sanctuary of peace and obedience. It's a reminder that our homes are trusts from Allah, and we should manage them according to His will.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When a person enters his house and remembers Allah Most High at the time of entering and at the time of eating, then Satan says: 'You have no place to spend the night and no food.' When he enters and does not remember Allah Most High at the time of entering and at the time of eating, then Satan says: 'You have found a place to spend the night and dinner.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3764, Sahih Muslim 2018). While the specific wording 'Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rabbina tawakkalna' is found in Sunan Abi Dawud and graded Hasan, the broader principle of remembering Allah upon entering the home is established in Sahih Muslim. This practice signifies seeking Allah's protection and blessing.
