Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'When a man enters his house and mentions Allah the Exalted at the time of his entry and at the time of his eating, Satan says: "You have no place to pass the night and no dinner." If he enters and does not mention Allah the Exalted at the time of his entry, Satan says: "You have found a place to pass the night." If he does not mention Allah the Exalted at the time of his eating, Satan says: "You have found a place to pass the night and dinner."' (This hadith is often narrated with variations, but the essence of mentioning Allah's name upon entering is consistent. The version translated above is a common form.)
