بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا
In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we exit, and in Allah our Lord we place our trust.
Bismillahi walajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Allah Rabbina tawakkalna
When to Read
This beautiful dua is recited whenever you enter your home. It's a moment to pause before stepping into your personal space, remembering Allah's name and His blessings.
How to Read
As you physically enter your home, whether it's your own residence or visiting someone else's, pause at the doorway. Utter the dua with sincerity, reflecting on its meaning. Some scholars mention saying 'Bismillah' three times upon entering the home, followed by this supplication, to ward off Shaytan and seek Allah's protection for the dwelling and its inhabitants.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It reminds us that our entry into our homes, just like our exit, is under Allah's dominion. It fosters a sense of gratitude for the shelter and security He provides. More importantly, by invoking Allah's name at this threshold, we invite His blessings and protection into our homes, creating an atmosphere of peace and well-being for our families. It also serves as a gentle reminder to treat our families with kindness and uphold their rights, as the home is a sanctuary where these rights are paramount.

Narrated by Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: When a man enters his house, he should say: 'O Allah, I ask You for blessings in the entrance and blessings in the exit. In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we exit, and in Allah our Lord we place our trust.' Then he should say to his family: 'Peace be upon you.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3764, graded Hasan by some scholars).
