Virtues & Benefits

This supplication invokes Allah's protection specifically from the evil spirits (shayatin) that are known to frequent places of impurity. It reminds us that even in the most private and mundane acts, we are still connected to Allah and seeking His presence and protection.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When one of you enters the toilet, let him say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male devils and female devils.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 142, Sahih Muslim 375). The translation of khubuth (male devils) and khaba'ith (female devils) is understood to refer to the devils in general, both male and female, who reside in places of impurity.
