Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith

When to Read

This dua is recited just before entering the toilet or bathroom. It is an act of seeking protection from the unseen, and by extension, the physical discomforts that may arise from an impure environment, including digestive disturbances. By invoking Allah's name and seeking His refuge, we ask Him to shield us from any harm, whether spiritual or physical.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a clear intention as you are about to step into the bathroom. Begin with 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) and follow with the supplication. It is recommended to enter with the left foot and exit with the right foot, as this is the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and to say this dua before doing so.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a profound teaching from our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, emphasizing the importance of seeking Allah's protection in every aspect of our lives, even in places that might seem mundane. Entering the bathroom is a transition into a space often associated with impurity, and it's a place where jinns and shayateen are known to reside. By reciting this, we are asking Allah to guard us from their mischief and any negative influences. For those experiencing digestive issues, this act of seeking refuge is a way of acknowledging Allah's ultimate power over all ailments and asking for His ease and relief from any physical discomforts associated with the digestive system, considering it a form of protection from potential aggravations.
