بِسْمِ اللهِ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from [all] evil spirits (male and female).
Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith
When to Read
Recite this dua just before entering the bathroom or toilet. It is a practice taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek protection in a place where unseen evils are believed to reside.
How to Read
Say 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) to begin, acknowledging Allah's name and seeking His blessing. Then, recite the full dua, raising your voice slightly to make it clear. The Prophet ﷺ would often enter with his left foot and exit with his right foot, as a sign of respecting the sanctity of the home. While not explicitly part of this dua, following the Sunnah in entering and exiting adds to the practice.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a powerful shield against physical ailments and diseases by seeking refuge in Allah from the unseen evils (khubuth) that may inhabit such places. By invoking Allah's name and His protection, we acknowledge our weakness and His absolute power over all matters, including protection from physical harm and diseases that can originate from unseen sources.
