بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from devilish males and females (or from evil and wicked things).
Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua is recited just before entering the bathroom or toilet area. It is a beautiful practice that reminds us of Allah's presence even in places we might otherwise consider mundane or private.
How to Read
Recite this supplication with sincerity and humility before stepping into the bathroom. It is generally advised to enter with the left foot and exit with the right foot, as this is often associated with entering and exiting places of impurity, contrasting with entering our homes or the mosque with the right foot.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua to seek Allah's protection from evil spirits and unseen harms that may reside in places of impurity. By reciting it, we invoke Allah's name and seek His refuge, transforming a potentially overlooked act into an act of worship and seeking spiritual safety. While this dua specifically seeks refuge from evil in the bathroom, the act of seeking Allah's protection and acknowledging His presence in all aspects of our lives can lead to overall well-being, including a sense of inner peace and balance, which indirectly supports a healthy disposition, including how we manage our physical needs.
