بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils (or from impurity and destructive things).
Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.
When to Read
This dua is recited specifically when one is about to enter the place of necessity, the bathroom or toilet. It is recommended to say it before stepping in.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity before entering the bathroom. It is a verbal supplication invoking Allah's protection. While traditionally this dua is associated with entering the 'khala' (a place of excretion), the principle of seeking refuge in Allah extends to seeking protection from unseen harms, including those that might be present in such secluded places.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we acknowledge Allah's power to protect us from all forms of harm, seen and unseen. It's a recognition that even in a place associated with physical relief, spiritual protection is paramount. The devils ('khubuth' and 'khaba'ith') are believed to frequent such places, and seeking refuge with Allah is our shield. This practice also instills humility and mindfulness, reminding us that Allah's presence and protection are sought in all aspects of our lives, even the most private.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say when he entered the toilet: 'Bismillah, Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306)
