When to Read

Recite this dua when you feel targeted by mockery, ridicule, or the ill-will of others. It's for moments when their words or actions are causing you distress and you need Allah's protection and intervention. Whether it's online trolls, sarcastic colleagues, or even people you know, this dua calls upon Allah for His sufficient help.

How to Read

This dua is concise and powerful. It can be recited silently or aloud, depending on your situation and comfort. The key is the sincerity and conviction in your heart as you ask Allah for protection. Imagine Allah's power enveloping you, shielding you from the harm intended by those who mock you. Focus on the certainty that Allah is the ultimate protector and disposer of all affairs.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly invokes Allah's power to deal with those who are causing harm through ridicule. It teaches us to turn to our Creator in times of social or emotional distress, rather than succumbing to despair or seeking retaliation ourselves. The benefit lies in the peace of mind and assurance that Allah hears our supplication and is capable of intervening in ways we might not even foresee. It’s a reminder that our ultimate strength and reliance should be on Allah, who is the best of protectors (Al-Wali) and sufficient for all our needs (Al-Kafi).

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'O Allah, suffice me against them, by whatever means You wish.' He said this on the day of Uhud, and when the Muslims were struck with severe hardship, they said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has invoked a severe invocation against the polytheists.' So, Jibril (peace be upon him) came to him and said: 'O Muhammad, Allah has sent you a salutation and a gift. He has commanded you to say on the day of Uhud: O Allah, give us strength in Your protection, and the strength to repel them, and the strength to be patient in the face of hardship, and the strength to be victorious.' And it was narrated from him (peace be upon him) that when he was afraid of people, he would say: 'O Allah, indeed We place You before them and We seek refuge in You from their evil.'
