Virtues & Benefits

By seeking Allah's protection from distress (hamm) and sorrow (hazan), we are asking for inner peace and contentment. The plea against incapacity ('ajz) and laziness (kasal) helps us seek strength to act and overcome lethargy. Protection from cowardice (jubn) and stinginess (buhl) encourages bravery and generosity. Finally, seeking refuge from the burden of debt (ghalabatid-dayn) and being overcome by people (qahrir-rijal) acknowledges our reliance on Allah for both financial and social well-being. It reminds us that ultimate strength and peace come only from Him.
