Difficulty
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 925

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the turning of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the abominable morals, deeds, and desires.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil akhlaqi wal a'mali wal ahwaa'.

When to Read

This powerful dua is particularly relevant when you feel vulnerable to the actions of others, whether it's a sense of unease about a relationship, a business deal, or any situation where trust is involved. Reciting it regularly, especially in the morning and evening as taught by the Prophet ﷺ, can serve as a constant shield against the pain of betrayal and the loss of good fortune that can stem from misplaced trust.

How to Read

Make this dua with sincerity and a firm belief in Allah's power to protect. Raise your hands as you would during supplication. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, understanding that you are turning to the One who has complete control over all affairs. Recite it with conviction, seeking Allah's protection from internal struggles (desires, bad deeds) as well as external trials (loss of blessings, sudden calamities).

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a comprehensive shield. Seeking refuge from the 'cessation of blessings' and 'turning of well-being' indirectly covers protection from circumstances that lead to disappointment and betrayal. By asking protection from 'abominable morals, deeds, and desires,' we are asking Allah to safeguard us from being wronged by those who possess such traits, and also from falling into similar pitfalls ourselves. It’s a proactive measure against the causes and consequences of betrayal.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Abdullah bin Rumailah Al-Anazi: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever says this dua, Allah will forgive him what has passed of his sins. And whoever says it in the morning, he will not be overtaken by misfortune until the evening; and whoever says it in the evening, he will not be overtaken by misfortune until the morning.' The dua is: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil akhlaqi wal a'mali wal ahwaa'.
