اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need to seek from anyone other than You.

When to Read

Recite this dua regularly, especially when facing financial difficulties or the burden of debt. It's beneficial to say it after your obligatory prayers and also in times of supplication, like the last third of the night or when breaking your fast.

How to Read

This is a comprehensive supplication. Focus on the meaning of the words as you recite them. Believe in Allah's ability to provide lawful means and fulfill your needs. It's recommended to raise your hands in supplication when making dua, though this specific hadith doesn't mandate it for this particular dua.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua asks Allah for two crucial things: provision that is lawful and pure, keeping us away from haram means of gaining wealth, and self-sufficiency through His bounty, preventing reliance on creation. It's a powerful way to seek relief from the distress of debt and financial hardship, trusting in Allah's plan and His infinite resources.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have a lot of debt and my wealth is meager.' He said: 'Shall I not teach you words that if you say them, Allah will pay off your debt even if it were as much as Mount Uhud? Then he said: 'O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I shall not need to seek from anyone other than You.' (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3563).
