When to Read

This beautiful dua is recited as the body of the deceased is being carefully lowered into the grave. It's a moment of profound transition, and this supplication anchors us in Allah's name and the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

How to Read

Recite this clearly and with intention as the deceased is being placed in the grave. It’s typically recited by the one leading the burial or by those present who are able to recall it. The focus should be on seeking Allah's blessings for the deceased's journey into the hereafter and acknowledging the Prophet's ﷺ guidance.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua carries immense weight. By starting with 'Bismillah,' we imbue the act with Allah's name, seeking His protection and blessing for the deceased. Mentioning 'ala millati Rasulillah' reminds us that this is the prescribed way, a practice sanctioned by the Prophet ﷺ himself. It serves as a solemn acknowledgment of our return to Allah and a commitment to following His Deen even in our most difficult moments.
