O Allah, forgive [Name of deceased], have mercy on him, grant him well-being, pardon him, honor his resting place, make his entrance spacious, cleanse him with water, snow, and hail. Purify him from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt. Replace his worldly home with a better one, his family with a better one, and his spouse with a better one. Admit him to Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.
Allahumma-ghfir li [Name of deceased], warhamhu, wa 'aafihi, wa'fu 'anhu, wa akrim nuzulahu, wa wassi' madkhalahu, waghsilhu bil-ma'i wath-thalji wal-baradi, wa naqqihi minal-khataaya kama yunaqqa ath-thawbul-abyadu minad-danasi, wa abdilhu daaran khairan min daarihi, wa ahlan khairan min ahlihi, wa zawjan khairan min zawjihi, wa adkhilhul-jannata, wa a'idhhu min 'adhaabil-qabri wa 'adhaabin-naar.

You can recite it at any time, but particularly during times of reflection, after prayer, or when visiting their grave. The ongoing supplication of the living is a great mercy to the deceased.
How to Read
Make this dua with sincerity and heartfelt conviction. Imagine the deceased before you and genuinely ask Allah for His boundless mercy. Replace '[Name of deceased]' with the actual name of the person. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, truly seeking these blessings for them. It is best to recite this dua after completing your obligatory prayers or during your personal supplications (duas).
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this comprehensive dua for the deceased, covering all essential aspects of mercy, forgiveness, and ease in the hereafter. It addresses potential shortcomings, including the neglect of one's health, by seeking Allah's complete pardon and purification. Such supplications are a direct way for the living to benefit the deceased, as mentioned in Sahih Muslim 1634, where the Prophet ﷺ said, 'When a person dies, all their deeds end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who supplicates for them.' Your dua is a continuation of their hope for reward and relief.
Source & Authentication
It was narrated from 'Auf bin Malik Al-Ashja'i that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the funeral prayer and he said, when he stood up: 'All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. O Allah, You are the Most High and Your Greatness is in the East. Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, forgive the dead of this community, the believers and the martyrs, and those who have died and seek forgiveness for them. O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whoever You keep alive of us, keep him alive on Islam, and whoever You cause to die of us, cause him to die on faith. O Allah, do not deprive us of their reward and do not cause us to go astray after them.' And he said: 'O Allah, forgive [Name of deceased], and have mercy on him, and grant him well-being, and pardon him, and honor his resting place, and make his entrance spacious, and cleanse him with water and snow and hail. And purify him from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt. And replace his home with a better home, and his family with a better family, and his spouse with a better spouse. And admit him to Paradise, and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.'
