O Allah, forgive him, have mercy upon him, give him peace, and pardon him. Make his resting place honorable and his entrance spacious. Cleanse him with water, snow, and hail. Purify him from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt. Grant him a home better than his former home, a family better than his former family, and a spouse better than his former spouse. Admit him into Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.

Narrated by Awf ibn Malik: The Prophet ﷺ prayed over a funeral procession and he said: 'O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, grant him safety and make his resting-place honorable, widen his entrance. Wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him from sins as a garment is cleansed from filth. (And then said): Grant him a better abode than his abode, and a better family than his family, and better spouses than his spouses. And admit him to Paradise and guard him against the torment of the grave (and the torment of the Fire)." He said: "And the narrator (Awf ibn Malik) said: 'O Allah, make his grave wide for him, and let it be a place of light for him.' When the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, he said: 'These are the supplications which you should say over your dead.'
