Dua for a Deceased Soul: Seeking Ease and Forgiveness

Deceased
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 963

O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, grant him safety and pardon him. Honor his reception and make his grave spacious. Wash him with water, snow, and hail. Purify him from sins just as a white garment is purified from dirt. Replace his home with a better home, his family with a better family, and his spouse with a better spouse. Admit him into Paradise, and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.

Source & Authentication

Narrated 'Awf bin Malik Al-Ashja'i: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) pronouncing the funeral prayer over a bier and he said: 'O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him and keep him safe and absolve him, and make honorable his reception and make his place of entering wide, and wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him from his sins as cleansed a white garment from filth; and give him in exchange a better abode than his abode, and a better family than his family, and a spouse better than his spouse, and admit him to Paradise and guard him against the trial of the grave and guard him against the chastisement of the Fire.' He said: 'Awf bin Malik, I recited four words like these over the bier of so and so.'
