O Allah, forgive [Name of the deceased] and have mercy upon him, and grant him well-being, and pardon him. Make his resting place honorable, and his entrance spacious. Wash him with water, snow, and hail. Purify him from sins just as a white garment is purified from dirt. Replace his home with a better home, his family with a better family, and his spouse with a better spouse. Admit him to Paradise, and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.
When to Read
This is a comprehensive supplication that can be recited at any time, especially after the death of a loved one, during funerals, on Fridays, or whenever you remember them and wish to send them the reward of your dua. It's particularly poignant when remembering someone who brought joy to others, reminding us to ask Allah for His boundless mercy upon them.
How to Read
Replace 'fulan' (meaning 'so-and-so') with the actual name of the deceased person. It is best to recite this dua with sincerity and presence of heart, envisioning Allah's mercy enveloping the deceased. If reciting for a female, use feminine pronouns accordingly (e.g., 'li fulanah', 'warhamha', etc.).

Narrated by 'Auf bin Malik Al-Ashja'i: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The bier of a dead person is brought before us, and we would say words of supplication in respect of him. He said: 'And I heard the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying at the back of the bier: 'May Allah send him to Paradise!' Or, 'May Allah grant him a good substitute in his stead!' But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not forbid them from that. And he said: 'When you perform funeral prayer over the dead, say: Allahumma-ghfur li ahya'ina wa mayyitina, wa shahidina wa gha'ibina, wa saghirina wa kabirina, wa dhakarina wa unthana, Allahumma man tahayyitahu minna fa tahayyathu, wa man tahayyitahu minna fa tahayyathu.' (O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our witnesses and our absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whosoever amongst us You cause to live, let him live upon Islam, and whosoever You cause to die, let him die upon faith.)
