When to Read

This powerful supplication is perfect to recite before starting any educational endeavor, whether it's a new course, studying for an exam, beginning a work project that requires learning, or even when you're seeking clarity and guidance in your career path. Making it a habit before work or study sessions can align your intentions with seeking Allah's blessings.

How to Read

Make this dua with sincere intention and focus. Raise your hands if you are able, as is the etiquette of dua. Begin with praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Recite the Arabic clearly, reflecting on its meaning. Imagine Allah accepting your plea for knowledge, provision, and acceptance of your work.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates seeking three crucial elements for success in any pursuit, especially those related to work and education. 'Beneficial knowledge' (`'ilman nafi'an`) is knowledge that benefits you and others, leading to righteous action. 'Goodly provision' (`rizqan tayyiban`) means sustenance that is lawful, pure, and brings barakah. 'Deeds accepted' (`'amalan mutaqabbalan`) is the ultimate goal – that our efforts and work are acknowledged and rewarded by Allah. This hadith, although classified as Hasan, is widely recognized for its comprehensive wisdom in seeking well-being in this life and the next.
