Business & Work
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 735

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This dua is a comprehensive request for goodness and is excellent to recite when embarking on seeking a business loan. It's particularly relevant before you begin the application process, during interviews with lenders, or at any point you feel the need for Allah's guidance and blessings in your business venture. Recite it with sincerity before you start any action related to securing the loan.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and full conviction in Allah's power. It is best to raise your hands slightly while making dua. Ensure your heart is present and focused on your request. Understand that the loan itself must be sought through halal means, and this dua encompasses seeking Allah's blessing for both the process and the outcome.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is incredibly comprehensive. It asks for knowledge that benefits us, which is crucial for making sound business decisions. It asks for rizqan tayyiban (pure, wholesome provision), aligning with the halal requirement for the loan. Finally, it asks for accepted deeds, meaning Allah accepts our efforts, including the work involved in running our business successfully. Seeking halal provision through legitimate means is a virtue in itself, and this dua invokes Allah's help in that pursuit.

Source & Authentication

Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) uttered a supplication, he would repeat it three times, and when he asked for something, he would ask for it three times. She also reported that when he stayed up at night, he would say: 'O Allah, Lord of Jibril, Mikail, and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You judge between Your servants concerning that wherein they differ. Guide me to the truth concerning that wherein we differ, by Your leave. You guide whom You will to the straight path.' He used to say: 'O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and acceptable deeds.' He would say this when he woke up from sleep (in the night).
