Dua for Relief from Overwhelming Business Burdens

Business & Work
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 1823

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female-servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is inevitable. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself by, or revealed to any of Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the remover of my anxieties.

Allahumma inni 'abdak, ibnu 'abdik, ibnu amatik, nasiyatii bii yadik, maadun fiyya hukmuk, 'adlun fiyya qadaa'uk, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak, sammaita bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitadik, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'al al-Qur'aana rabii'a qalbii, wa nuura sadrii, wa jalaa'a huznii, wa dhahaaba hammii.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to a man suffering from distress, directly addresses the root of overwhelming feelings: worry and sadness. By asking Allah to make the Qur'an the remedy for these ailments, we are connecting with the ultimate source of guidance and peace. This implies that seeking solace in the divine word brings not just relief, but a positive transformation of one's emotional state, which can profoundly impact one's ability to manage business pressures with clarity and strength.

Source & Authentication

Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says: 'O Allah! I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your handmaid. My forehead is in Your hand. Passed into effect is Your judgment concerning me, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have called Yourself by, taught it to any of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, (I ask You) that You make the Qur'an the life of my heart and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness and the remover of my anxiety,' but Allah will remove his anxiety and grief and give him joy in his place.' It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Should we learn these words?' He said: 'Yes, anyone who hears them should learn them.'
