O Allah, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, from cowardice and old age, and from stinginess. I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave and the punishment of the grave. I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Fire and the punishment of the Fire. I seek refuge in You from the evil of the trial of wealth, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of the trial of poverty. I seek refuge in You from the evil of the trial of debt. And I seek refuge in You from the evil of the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal). O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and purify my heart from sins just as You purified the white garment from dirt. And distance me from my sins just as You have distanced the East and the West.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wal-jubni wal-harami, wal-bukhl.

Virtues & Benefits
Seeking refuge in Allah from laziness (kasal) is crucial because it hinders our productivity, prevents us from fulfilling our responsibilities, and can lead to regret. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ specifically taught this dua to guard against these debilitating traits, recognizing their impact on both our worldly and religious obligations. By seeking Allah's protection, we gain spiritual strength to combat these challenges and are enabled to carry out our duties with diligence and focus.

The narrator 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach them to seek refuge in Allah from the following evils, just as he used to teach them a Surah from the Qur'an: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hajri wal-kasali, wal-jubni wal-harami wal-bukhl. (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from hesitation and laziness, from cowardice and senility, and from avarice. And I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the trial of the grave, and from the trial of the Fire, and from the punishment of the Fire, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of the wealth of this world, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of the poverty of this world, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the religion, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the False Messiah).
