There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and to Him belongs praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living, never dying. In His hand is all good, and He is Able to do all things.

When to Read

This powerful dhikr is recommended to be recited upon entering any marketplace. The marketplace, while a place of permissible worldly pursuits, can also be a place where heedlessness, excessive talk, and unnecessary transactions can occur. Reciting this dua at the outset serves as a spiritual anchor, reminding you of Allah's absolute sovereignty and power, setting a tone of remembrance as you engage in your dealings.

How to Read

Recite this supplication clearly and with full concentration upon crossing the threshold into the marketplace. Reflect on the meaning of each phrase, acknowledging Allah's uniqueness, His dominion over all things, His power to give life and take it, and His control over all good. Let your heart be present with these words, seeking His protection and guidance in your interactions.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed us of the immense reward for reciting this dua upon entering the marketplace: 'Whoever enters the marketplace and says: 'La ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, yuhyi wa yumit, wa huwa hayyun la yamut, biyadihil-khairu, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir' - Allah will write for him a million good deeds, and erase from him a million bad deeds, and raise him a million levels, and build for him a house in Paradise.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3428). This shows how a simple act of remembrance can bring profound spiritual benefits, purifying our intentions and actions in a place often filled with distractions.
