O Allah, bless my trade for me, and suffice me with what You have made lawful, from what You have made unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace, from other than You.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction. Face the Qiblah if possible, raise your hands, and ask Allah with earnestness. It is recommended to say it regularly, making it a habit of your daily routine, to continuously seek Allah's blessings in your business dealings.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates seeking lawful earnings, protection from unlawful means, and overall contentment through Allah's bounty. By asking for blessings in one's trade, we are asking for ease, increase, and acceptance in our efforts. Sufficiency in what is lawful guards us from temptation and sin, while seeking richness through Allah's grace leads to true independence from needing anything other than Him. It acknowledges our reliance on the Creator for all provisions, ensuring our success is tied to His pleasure.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'There is no Muslim who performs the circumambulation of the Ka'bah seven times and prays two rak'ahs, except that Allah records for him in his favour in ten good deeds, and blots out from him ten evil deeds, and raises him in rank ten times, and has mercy for him as for the companions of the women who have children, and he (the auditor) said: 'and it is recorded for him by way of the praise of the people of the Ka'bah.' And he said: 'No man has kissed the Black Stone or touched it, but Allah will record for him the equivalent of seventy thousand good deeds, and blot out from him the equivalent of seventy thousand evil deeds, and He will have mercy on him in the form of seventy thousand mercies, and he will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement amongst the believers who are in a good state.' Al-Thawri said: 'If you circumambulate the Ka'bah after Asr prayer, and then pray two rak'ahs, and then say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka ilman naafi'an wa rizqan tayyiban wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds). And if you drink water, and then say: 'Allahumma barik lana fihi wa zidna minhu' (O Allah, bless it for us and increase us from it). And if you eat food, and then say: 'Allahumma barik lana fihi wa at'imna khairan minhu' (O Allah, bless it for us and feed us better than it). And if you wear a garment, and then say: 'Allahumma barik lana fihi wa yazidna min kulli khair' (O Allah, bless it for us and grant us increase of all good). And if you enter your house, and then say: 'Allahumma barik lana wa barik lana fihi' (O Allah, bless us and bless for us in it). And if you ride a mount, and then say: 'Allahumma sakhkhir lana hadha min kulli shaytana wa ard wa al-kaffir wa al-munna wa al-kabba' (O Allah, make this subservient to us from every devil and earth and disbeliever and munna and kabba). And if you go to your bed, and then say: 'Allahumma bismika ahya wa amut' (O Allah, in Your name I live and die). And if you wake up from sleep, and then say: 'Al-hamdu lillah alladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilaihi al-nushoor' (Praise be to Allah Who resurrected us after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection). And if you enter the market, and then say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka khaira hadha al-suqi wa khaira ahlihi wa khaira tijarati, wa a'udhu bika min sharri hadha al-suqi wa sharri ahlihi wa sharri tijarati, wa a'udhu bika min sharri al-bay'i wa al-shira'' (O Allah, I ask You for the good of this market, and the good of its people, and the good of its trade, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this market, and the evil of its people, and the evil of its trade, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of buying and selling). And if you have a business, and then say: 'Allahumma barik li fi bay'i wakfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, bless my trade for me, and suffice me with what You have made lawful, from what You have made unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace, from other than You.)
