I seek forgiveness from Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah. O Allah, You are Peace, and from You comes Peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honor.
Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah. Allahumma antas-salam wa minkas-salam, tabarakta ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram.
When to Read
This dua is recited immediately after concluding the obligatory prayers (Fardh). It's a beautiful transition from the intense focus of prayer into a moment of seeking Allah's pardon and acknowledging His perfect attributes.
How to Read
Recite this after saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' to your right and left, concluding your prayer. Repeat 'Astaghfirullah' three times, then recite the rest of the supplication. This practice was consistently observed by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua combines seeking forgiveness with praising Allah. Repeating 'Astaghfirullah' three times emphasizes our need for Allah's mercy and cleansing. Acknowledging Allah as 'As-Salam' (The Peace) and recognizing that all peace originates from Him, as well as praising Him with 'Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram' (Owner of Majesty and Honor), reminds us of His greatness and our reliance on Him for acceptance of our worship and forgiveness of our shortcomings.
