O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the punishment of Hellfire, and from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal), and from the evil of his tongue, and from the evil of what he brings.
When to Read
This dua is recited after the Tashahhud in the final sitting of the prayer, before the Tasleem (salutation). It's a crucial moment for seeking refuge with Allah from significant evils, including the misuse and harmful consequences of the tongue.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart after completing the Tashahhud in your prayers. Ensure you are facing the Qiblah and maintain a state of humility before Allah. The emphasis on seeking refuge from the 'evil of his tongue' specifically highlights the danger of destructive speech, and by extension, any harmful speech we might be tempted to engage in.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive supplication encompasses seeking protection from major sources of torment and trial. By specifically asking for protection from the 'evil of his tongue' (referring to the Dajjal, but applicable generally to the evils of speech), we are imploring Allah to safeguard us from harmful gossip, slander, backbiting, lying, and any form of speech that displeases Him or harms others. It trains us to be mindful of our words even in our most sacred acts of worship.

Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to teach them (his companions) to seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave and from the punishment of Hellfire, and to seek refuge in Allah from the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal) and to seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the trial of life and the trial of death. He (Abu Hurairah) said: And Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: When any one of you completes the Tashahhud, he should seek refuge in Allah from four things, and say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and from the punishment of Hellfire, and from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal).
