After Prayer
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1522

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best manner.

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika

When to Read

This powerful dua is specifically taught to be recited after completing the obligatory prayers (salah). It's a perfect moment after you've just finished standing before Allah, with your heart still connected, to ask for His continuous assistance in maintaining that connection.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely after finishing your taslim (the concluding salutations of the prayer). You can say it once, or repeat it three times for emphasis, as is the Sunnah in many other supplications. Focus on the meaning of each phrase as you say it, truly feeling your dependence on Allah for these essential acts of worship.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication encapsulates the essence of strong faith. By asking for help in remembering Allah (dhikr), we're seeking to keep Him present in our thoughts throughout the day, not just during salah. Asking for help in thanking Him (shukr) reminds us of the countless blessings we often overlook, fostering gratitude. Finally, seeking assistance in worshipping Him in the best manner (husni 'ibadah) is a comprehensive request for sincerity, mindfulness, and perfection in our acts of devotion. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua, indicating its immense value for spiritual growth and maintaining a strong connection with our Creator.
