Seeking Refuge from the Dajjal After Salah

After Prayer
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, and from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal).

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi Jahannama, wa min 'adhab-il-qabri, wa min fitnat-il-mahya wal-mamat, wa min sharri fitnat-il-Masihi d-Dajjal.

When to Read

This is a profound supplication that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite after the Tashahhud in the final part of our obligatory prayers. It's a moment when you're turning to Allah with utmost sincerity before concluding your Salah with the Tasleem (saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah'). Reciting it consistently in every prayer offers a shield against the greatest trial humanity will face.

How to Read

Recite this dua silently after finishing the Tashahhud (the final sitting in prayer where you recite the prayer's concluding supplications) and before saying the final Tasleem. Focus your heart on seeking Allah's protection. Imagine the immense severity of the Dajjal's fitnah and let that motivate your plea.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ specifically instructed his Ummah to seek refuge from the Dajjal in this manner. This hadith highlights the extreme danger of the Dajjal's fitnah, making it incumbent upon us to seek Allah's protection. By incorporating this dua into our daily prayers, we are actively safeguarding ourselves against this ultimate test, a test that will deceive many and bring immense hardship. It's a way of fulfilling the Prophet's ﷺ command and ensuring we are not among those who fall prey to this trial.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger ﷺ used to invoke Allah for protection from the punishment of the grave, saying: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi Jahannama, wa min 'adhab-il-qabri, wa min fitnat-il-mahya wal-mamat, wa min sharri fitnat-il-Masihi d-Dajjal.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, and from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal)).
