After Prayer
Hasan HadithJami' At-Tirmidhi 3522

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.

Ya muqalliba l-quloobi, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik

When to Read

This powerful dua is best recited immediately after completing your obligatory (fard) and voluntary (sunnah) prayers. It's a moment when your heart is most receptive, having just connected with Allah. Think of it as reinforcing the spiritual connection and seeking divine strength to carry that devotion through the rest of your day.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Focus on the meaning of the words: acknowledging that only Allah controls the hearts and asking Him to keep you firm. It’s a personal supplication, so you can say it quietly to yourself after finishing your tasbih and other post-prayer remembrance. Raising your hands isn't a stipulated part of this specific dua, but the core is the earnest plea from the heart.

Virtues & Benefits

The greatest benefit of this dua is seeking Allah's help to remain steadfast on Islam. Our hearts are easily swayed by desires, doubts, and the distractions of this world. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, despite being the most righteous of creation, constantly turned to Allah for this very reason. By making this dua, we are following his blessed example and actively safeguarding ourselves against deviation from the Straight Path. It’s a reminder that our faith isn't static; it requires constant nurturing and divine support.

Source & Authentication

Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to invoke frequently saying: 'O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is it that makes you invoke so often?' He said: 'O Aishah, no son of Adam is safe from his side being turned. The heart of the believer is between the fingers of the Most Merciful, He turns it as He wills.'
