O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of calamity, and the reach of misery, and evil decree, and the rejoicing of enemies. O Allah, I ask You to help me remember You, and thank You, and worship You in the best way.
Allahumma a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala'i, wa darakish-shaqa'i, wa sue'il-qada'i, wa shamatatil-a'da'i. Allahumma inni as'aluka an tu'inani 'ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni 'ibadatika.
When to Read
This powerful dua is ideally recited immediately after completing your obligatory prayers (Fardh Salah), before you engage in other activities. It's particularly relevant when you feel overwhelmed by responsibilities, are struggling to keep promises, or fear falling into error. By asking for Allah's help right after prayer, you leverage that sacred time when your supplications are more likely to be answered.
How to Read
After concluding your prayer with the Tasleem (saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' to the right and left), remain seated in your prayer posture if possible. Begin by sincerely seeking refuge in Allah from the specified difficulties. Then, clearly and earnestly ask Allah to grant you the strength and ability to remember Him, be grateful to Him, and worship Him in the most excellent manner. This implies seeking His assistance in fulfilling any oaths or vows you may have made, as such actions require consistent remembrance, gratitude, and good worship.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication encompasses seeking protection from many of the hardships that can lead one to break oaths or vows. By asking for Allah's help ('tawfeeq') in remembering Him, thanking Him, and worshipping Him well, you are essentially asking for the internal strength and guidance needed to remain steadfast. This includes upholding commitments made to Allah and to others, which are intrinsically linked to a believer's remembrance and gratitude towards their Creator.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us this dua: 'Allahumma a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala'i, wa darakish-shaqa'i, wa sue'il-qada'i, wa shamatatil-a'da'i. Allahumma inni as'aluka an tu'inani 'ala dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni 'ibadatika.'
