اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ مُنْكَرَاتِ الأَخْلاَقِ وَالأَعْمَالِ وَالأَهْوَاءِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of objectionable morals, deeds, and desires.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil akhlaqi wal a'mali wal ahwa'i
When to Read
This dua is recommended to be recited immediately after concluding the obligatory prayers (Fardh). It is part of the supplications the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught his companions to say after the Tasleem (the final greeting of peace).
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and focus after you have finished your prayer, saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' to your right and then your left. Utter the words clearly, reflecting on their meaning and the profound protection you are seeking from Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking refuge from objectionable morals, deeds, and desires protects the heart and soul from falling into sin and deviation. It's a proactive measure to maintain spiritual purity and uprightness, ensuring our actions and inner thoughts align with Allah's pleasure. This supplication is particularly potent as it's made at a time when supplications are often accepted – right after fulfilling a command of Allah.

A man asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, which dua is heard the most?' He replied: 'The dua of a person in the depths of the night and the dua of the oppressed.' Then a man asked: 'Which deeds are the most virtuous?' He said: 'The remembrance of Allah, high be His praise.' Then another man asked: 'Which kind of dua is the most effective?' He said: 'The dua of a Muslim for his absent brother.' Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'A great matter! This is the dua of a believer for his brother. No servant denies his Lord, nor curses his Lord, nor sins against Him, but his Lord is pleased with him on account of the dua of his brother.' Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The supplications of the servant are heard so long as he does not supplicate for sin or severing of relations, and so long as he does not show haste.' He was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is the haste?' He said: 'He says: I have supplicated, I have supplicated, but I have not received a response, so he becomes despondent and abandons the supplication.' Another narration adds: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil akhlaqi wal a'mali wal ahwa'i' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of objectionable morals, deeds, and desires).
