اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provisions, and deeds that are accepted.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This dua is recommended to be recited immediately after the concluding *tasleem* (saying *Assalamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah*) of any obligatory or voluntary prayer. It's a moment when our hearts are most receptive, having just engaged in worship.
How to Read
After finishing your prayer and saying the *tasleem* to your right and then to your left, you would then recite this dua. It is a supplication seeking spiritual and material well-being. The emphasis is on sincerity and presence of heart as you ask Allah.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication encompasses three crucial aspects for a balanced life: beneficial knowledge that guides you, pure and lawful provision that sustains you, and deeds that are accepted by Allah, leading to closeness with Him. Seeking these after prayer aligns your worldly aspirations with your spiritual journey, fostering inner peace by knowing you are asking the Creator for what truly matters and will hopefully bring His pleasure.
Source & Authentication
‘Abdullah bin Abi Aufa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was with us for a prayer, and when he finished, a man said: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provisions, and deeds that are accepted.) Upon this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'You have asked Allah about the good of this world and the Hereafter.'
