اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ، وَشُكْرِكَ، وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ.
O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrik, wa shukrik, wa husni 'ibadatik.
When to Read
This is a powerful, comprehensive dua that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite after every prayer, whether it's obligatory (fardh) or voluntary (nafl). It’s especially relevant as we finish our salah, a moment when our hearts are soft and receptive, and we ask Allah to help us continue that connection throughout our day by remembering Him, being grateful, and perfecting our worship in all aspects of our lives, including following His Sunnah.
How to Read
Recite this dua softly after you have finished your tasleem (saying 'As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' to the right and then the left). It’s recommended to place your right hand on your chest as you recite it. This gesture is mentioned in some narrations, and it signifies sincerity and focus on the heart. Take your time with it; let the words sink in and feel the earnestness of your supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a beautiful encapsulation of a Muslim's core purpose: to worship Allah. By asking for help in remembering Him, we're seeking to keep Him present in our thoughts and actions, which naturally leads to avoiding what displeases Him. The request to be helped in giving thanks reinforces gratitude, which protects us from arrogance and makes us appreciate His blessings. Finally, asking to worship Him in the best manner is a plea for excellence in our deen, encompassing all our acts of worship and, crucially, our adherence to the Prophet's Sunnah, which is the practical embodiment of perfect worship. As Allah says, 'Say, [O Muhammad], 'If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.' (Surah Al-Imran 3:31).

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'None of you should say: O Allah, forgive me if You wish; O Allah, have mercy on me if You wish. He should be firm in his supplication, for no one can compel Allah to do what He wishes, be it as much as a mustard seed, but He wills it. Abu Hurayrah said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say when he finished his prayer: Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrik, wa shukrik, wa husni 'ibadatik. (O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner).' — Sunan Abi Dawud 1522. While the first part of the hadith discusses firmness in dua, the second part specifically teaches this beautiful supplication after prayer.
