Dua for Fulfilling Trusts and Responsibilities After Prayer

After Prayer
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1506

O Allah, fulfill for me my trusts and suffice me with what You have entrusted me with. Grant me sincere advice for Your servants, and grant me desire for what is with You, and fear of You. And act upon Your saying: 'O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims (in submission to Him).'

Allahumma addi 'anni amanati wa kaffini ma kallaftani bihi warzuqni naseehatan li'ibadika warzuqni ar-raghbata feema 'indaka wal-khawfa minka wa'mal bi qawlika: 'Ya ayyuhalladhina amanut-taqullah haqa tuqatihi wala tamutunna illa wa antum muslimun.'

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication helps you seek Allah's assistance in fulfilling the 'amanat' (trusts and responsibilities) that He has placed upon you. This includes everything from the trust of your faith, your family, your job, your dealings with others, and even the trusts Allah places in our hearts. By asking Allah to suffice you, you acknowledge your reliance on Him to help you carry these burdens and perform them as He wills. It also asks for guidance in being sincere and offering good counsel to fellow Muslims, and cultivates a desire for the Hereafter and a healthy fear of Allah, which are the bedrock of a Muslim's life.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to teach us the Tashahhud and the Dua at the end of the prayer and to teach us: 'Allahumma inni as'alukal-jannata wa a'udhu bika minan-nar (O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and I seek refuge in You from the Fire). They said: 'Abdullah, how should we supplicate?' He said: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to teach us: 'Allahumma inni as'alukal-jannata wa a'udhu bika minan-nar.' And he taught us our Tashahhud. He said: 'Allahumma ad'anni 'amanti wa kaffini ma kallaftani bihi warzuqni naseehatan li'ibadika warzuqni ar-raghbata feema 'indaka wal-khawfa minka wa'mal bi qawlika: 'Ya ayyuhalladhina amanut-taqullah haqa tuqatihi wala tamutunna illa wa antum muslimun.' (O Allah, fulfill for me my trusts and suffice me with what You have entrusted me with. Grant me sincere advice for Your servants, and grant me desire for what is with You, and fear of You. And act upon Your saying: 'O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims (in submission to Him).')
