Dua for the Soul's Nourishment After Eating

After Eating
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 5443

All praise is for Allah, [praise] abundant, pure, and blessed, not to be rejected, nor are we independent of it, our Lord.

When to Read

This dua is recited immediately after finishing any meal. It's a beautiful way to transition from the physical act of eating to spiritual gratitude, recognizing that the nourishment we receive is from Allah alone.

How to Read

Recite this earnestly after you have finished your meal. It's a moment to pause, reflect on Allah's blessings, and express your sincere gratitude. The wording itself emphasizes the continuous and all-encompassing nature of Allah's grace, so let that sentiment resonate as you speak the words.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound level of gratitude. By acknowledging Allah's blessings as 'abundant, pure, and blessed,' and recognizing that we can never be independent of His sustenance, we cultivate a deeper sense of appreciation. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this specific wording, indicating its significance in acknowledging Allah's constant provision and our perpetual need for Him. It transforms a simple meal into an act of worship and remembrance.
