Praise be to Allah, much praise, good and blessed, not to be dispensed with, nor bid farewell, nor can we be independent of Him, our Lord.

Narrated by Abdullah bin Busr: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in the house of Thumama bin Abdullah. He brought a dish of food which had meat and thareed (a dish of bread soaked in broth). The Prophet ate, and then said: 'Al-hamdulillah hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubarakan feehi, ghaira makfiyyin wa la mawaddi'in wa la mustaghnan 'anhu Rabbuna.' (Praise be to Allah, much praise, good and blessed, not to be dispensed with, nor bid farewell, nor can we be independent of Him, our Lord.) And he also said: 'If Allah gives sustenance to any person, he should say: "Alhamdulillah." And if He deprives him of sustenance, he should say: "Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal." (All praise is due to Allah in all circumstances.)'
