Dua for Reflection on Allah's Mercy After a Meal

After Eating
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6137

All praise is due to Allah, [praise] in abundance, pure and blessed. [Praise] that is sufficient, [praise] that is not abandoned, and [praise] that we can never be independent of, our Lord.

Alhamdulillah hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubarakan feehi, ghaira makfiyyin wa laa mudawwi'in wa laa mustaghnan 'anhu Rabbuna.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Prophet ﷺ used to say when he broke his fast, or when he broke his fast (with a group of people), or when he ate, or when he was given food: "الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَفَانَا وَأَرْوَانَا، حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ، غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا." Translation: "All praise is due to Allah Who sufficed us and gave us drink, praise in abundance, pure and blessed, that is sufficient, that is not abandoned, and that we can never be independent of, our Lord." (Sahih al-Bukhari 6137, also reported in Sahih Muslim 2040 with slight variations in wording concerning breaking fast vs. eating food generally. The essence remains gratitude for provision.)
