Dua After Eating: Seeking Protection from Pride and Arrogance

After Eating
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

All praise is due to Allah, [praiseworthy], abundant, and blessed praise. [O Allah,] our Lord, we are not satisfied [with these praises], nor is it the last of it, nor is it dispensed with, O our Lord.

Alḥamdu lillāhi ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīhi ghayra makfiyyin wa lā muwaddaʿin wa lā mustaghnan ʿanhu rabbunā

Virtues & Benefits

This beautiful dua encapsulates profound gratitude. By praising Allah abundantly and acknowledging that our praise can never fully encompass His greatness, we guard our hearts against pride and arrogance that can creep in with blessings. It reminds us that all sustenance comes from Allah, fostering humility and contentment. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to remind us that even after receiving a bounty, our praise should be continuous and never feel complete, as Allah's favors are boundless.
