All praise is due to Allah, [praiseworthy] praise in abundance, blessed and [with blessings] that are everlasting. Our Lord, [We are] not self-sufficient, nor is it taken leave of, nor is He [Allah] dispensed with.
Al-hamdu lillahi hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubarakan feehi, ghaira makfiyyin wa la mawadda'in wa la mustaghnan 'anhu Rabbuna

Virtues & Benefits
This dua embodies profound gratitude. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this specific phrasing to encompass all forms of thankfulness to Allah. It acknowledges that our sustenance is a continuous gift, not to be taken for granted. By thanking Allah for food, we also implicitly ask for His continued blessings and for the strength to use the nourishment He has provided for acts of obedience and good deeds. It's a reminder that even our physical needs are connected to our spiritual growth.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Allah is pleased with His slave, and praises him, and thanks him, when he eats food and praises Him, and drinks food and praises Him.' Another narration states: 'When Allah gives His slave food and he says: 'Al-hamdu lillah alladhi at'amani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghairi hawlin minni wa la quwwatin' (All praise is due to Allah Who gave me this food and provided it for me without any power or strength from myself), then all of his past sins are forgiven.' Yet another narration has: 'Al-hamdu lillah hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubarakan feehi, ghaira makfiyyin wa la mawadda'in wa la mustaghnan 'anhu Rabbuna' (All praise is due to Allah, [praiseworthy] praise in abundance, blessed and [with blessings] that are everlasting. Our Lord, [We are] not self-sufficient, nor is it taken leave of, nor is He [Allah] dispensed with.)' — Sahih al-Bukhari 5443, 5070, 5450.
