Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua as a shield against all harm. In one narration, when asked about protection, the Prophet ﷺ said: 'He who recites it three times in the morning will not be afflicted by any calamity until he breakfasts in the evening, and he who recites it three times in the evening will not be afflicted by any calamity until he breakfasts in the morning.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). This implies a broad scope of protection, covering physical dangers like animal venom.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what has been revealed to me concerning the animals that crawl and the creeping things?' He said: 'The one who has been revealed concerning them is: A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created).' So a man came to him on that day and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what has been revealed to me concerning the animals that crawl and the creeping things?' He said: 'The one that has been revealed concerning them is: A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.' This was narrated from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet ﷺ. This Hadith is Sahih.
